Henry County Parks
What's the difference
between a park and a recreation area?
The difference between a park and a recreation area deals with the activities
that can be enjoyed in that area. A park allows visitors the opportunity for
camping, hiking, picnicking, and fishing using modern developments such as
established campsites with electricity and water, rest rooms, and shelter
houses. Hunting is not permitted in our parks and these areas may be closed to
visitors at times. Recreation areas may not permit overnight camping, may not
have rest rooms, and may not have access to water. Hunting and fishing are
permitted during the appropriate seasons and recreation areas are open
year-round.
How much are the camping fees and can I reserve a campsite?
Camping fees are set at $8.00 per night for sites without electricity and $12.00
per night for sites with electricity. Our campground host will register campers
in any of our campgrounds and will provide information regarding our areas.
Our campgrounds are on a first-come, first-served basis. We currently do not
take reservations for campsites and we do not allow campsites to be reserved or
held by registered campground users. We encourage visitors to contact us
regarding the availability of campsites. Our telephone number is (319) 986-5067
with our office hours being 7:00 to 3:30 CST., Monday through Friday.
Are showers or a dump station available?
 |
There is a shower house on the South Shore camping area.
We do have a sanitary dump station located in Oakland Mills Park. It is a free
service to registered campers of our parks. Non-registered campers are required
to pay a $2.00 fee. |
How long can I stay?
According to the Code of Iowa, a person can stay a maximum of 14 days, then must
leave for a minimum of four days before returning.
