Recreation Areas

What's the difference
between a park and a recreation area?
The difference between a park and a recreation area deals with the activities
that can be enjoyed in that area. A park allows visitors the opportunity for
camping, hiking, picnicking, and fishing using modern developments such as
established campsites with electricity and water, rest rooms, and shelter
houses. Hunting is not permitted in our parks and these areas may be closed to
visitors at times. Recreation areas may not permit overnight camping, may not
have rest rooms, and may not have access to water. Hunting and fishing are
permitted during the appropriate seasons and recreation areas are open
year-round.
